So what am I WAITING for?

There are many questions during the course of your life that you should truly ask yourself every day, and this is one of them. When I personally think about this question, it always challenges me to start thinking about the opportunities that I might have lost all in the name of “waiting” for the perfect time, opportunity, person, love, idea etc … BUT most importantly, it challenges me and drives me to START ACTING NOW on some of the opportunities that come my way.

Very few things have come into my life because I have been waiting and procrastinating for them to automatically happen. So here is my challenge, if I know this, why then do I keep waiting? Is it possible that this waiting game has been pre-programmed in my subconscious as a habit over a period of time or perhaps it’s that saying that goes, “good things happen to those that wait or are patient.”

Now am not advocating for you to be impatient but what am trying to get you to realize is that there is a profound difference between passive waiting and active waitingPassive waiting can take the form of cynicism, complaining, or simply doing nothing. Active waiting, however, is a posture that seeks to cultivate habits that are focused on intentional preparation.

Even though I am just in my early 40’s, I’ve always been one of those people who was constantly passively waiting for my life to start. “When I’m older I’ll do this” and “In a few years I’ll do that”, when I find a wife ALL my problems will be solved. Obviously things changed for me drastically for the better as I realised how much time I was wasting “waiting” for that perfect moment, time etc. There will never be a perfect time or moment and therefore I have learnt how to embrace the uncertainties and imperfections of life and go after my goals and dreams right now.

So stop creating excuses and start creating opportunities for yourself. Live a life based on love rather than fear. Love yourself enough to allow yourself to start living each day to the fullest. Conquer your small goals, your medium goals and eventually your big goals! You are capable of more than you even think is possible. Life rewards the person that initiates, things don’t come to you until you start moving towards them. When you stop moving, these things also stop moving towards you. Ideas, people, resources, money, love and many more, all these require that you be proactive and keep on moving forward.

Go for your dreams, start today by taking baby steps because your actions ultimately create your results!
