- Waking up with a positive attitude – I am very intentional about staying positive at all times. It takes preparation to stay positive by training your subconscious mind on all possibilities and scenarios. Make yourself ready for any possibilities and always look for something good in every situation of your life – I must add however, it’s easier said than done!
- Reviewing my purpose everyday – this is so key, in fact this is the campus for my life. Purpose is simply this – passion zeroed in, my why. Why I do the things I do everyday, why I wake up, why I was born and still on this earth, why why why! This is my main motivator, if you have nothing that drives you, then why are you here? Everyone has their why, but it takes self mastery to truly discover it.
- Live everyday as if its my last – I used to be a great procrastinator, always postponing tasks and giving the best excuses possible. If you knew today was the last day of your life, what would you do? Would you give it your best? Always give your best, your ALL – NOW, not tomorrow! Tomorrow may never come, Les Brown says it best, “The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.”
- Get disciplined about the little things – we all have a major issue on self discipline and being consistent. I am the total sum of the little things I do everyday. It takes 2 minutes twice everyday to avoid a dentist and a very expensive bill, not 2 hours every 6 months. It takes 30 min of consistent gym work everyday rather than 3 hours every other 3 months for my much needed 6 pack.
- Get to know me more through self mastery – Identity is like a thermostat or speed governor to our lives, it regulates what things we attract. You are the five people you hang around with. Your goals can never exceed your identity or your vision, so it’s important to know you so that you grow your identity to drive your vision – Look at Steve Jobs life and relate it to Apples vision.
- Big picture & creative thinking – the ability to see what others see as well as what they are missing is big picture thinking. I am cognisant however that not all scenarios require big picture thinking. Sometimes starting from the bottom up and connecting the dots creatively whilst keeping in mind the overarching big picture might be what is required. I try and think this way in many cases of my life, it’s a discipline you need for success in almost every facet of your life.
- Lifelong learning – learn something new everyday before you go to sleep – as a rule, I try and learn something new everyday, a word, concept, skill, inspiration that I had no idea about. My success depends on learning something everyday.
- Taking responsibility for my life – primarily I want to rely on myself, the buck has to always stop with me. I can’t blame my boss for my career progression – I am responsible for my career. I don’t have to explain to people or give excuses about my level of skill, or family or relationship – I am in charge of me, I write my story and no one knows me better than me. I must take responsibility for my life and look in the mirror everyday.
- Inspire and equip others with knowledge – As a leader, I am committed to sharing my knowledge everyday. Its my purpose to equip and inspire others to find their inspired moment, perhaps they too would inspire others and together, we can make this world a better place to live.
- Read my bible and pray everyday – as a man of faith, I must draw my inspiration from someone bigger than me and there isn’t any other place better than the best book ever written and assembled – the Holy Bible. Again, the discipline and consistency with this is key.
Those are my 10, hopefully they give you a head start to think about yours.
