I started reading this very interesting book by Simon Sinek called – The Infinite Game, I highly recommend this book even though I just finished chapter 1 only 😁😁.
Anyway, he discusses the concept of the infinite game having two players. Finite games are played by known players and Infinite games are played by both known and unknown players.
Linking that back to perspective, there is such a thing as FINITE PERSPECTIVES – where the fundamental supposition is that your perspective is construed to the limits of your surroundings that also create little creativity, as all play must be done within the rules, time is used as a measure to define win/lose and becomes a major source of stress, etc.
On the other hand, INFINITE PERSPECTIVES have infinite horizons with no end in mind. There are no limits here to your dreams, creativity is highly encouraged, time is useful for creating opportunities for win/win, and therefore the only person that can stop you here is YOU.
In both these cases, the players have a choice to make – IS THE GLASS HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY? The answer here is, IT DEPENDS on your perspective.
William Blake the 17th Century poet wrote – “To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wildflower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.”
In essence, he was pointing us to the extraordinary miracles present in every moment and particle, hidden only by our incapacity to notice them.
As you reflect on which kind of player or perspective you are – FINITE or INFINITE, the bottom line is that the impact of this new player or perspective will always give you a sense of a greater whole.
Exploring the way we perceive reality has long been spoken of as a gateway to a greater understanding of ourselves and the world. There are infinite perspectives from which life can be viewed if we can suspend our SELF LIMITING beliefs about the way things are, and look anew; more deeply, more curiously and more humbly.
