What is success to you?

Success is defined differently by different people depending on what they deam to be a worthwhile goal, be it in different areas of their lives like finance, family, spiritual, personal growth or health & fitness et al.

My simple definition of success is simply achieving that which you have set your mind to achieve over a period of time – key words here “period of time”. In life, anything worthwhile to achieve must be crafted and worked upon, its not instant coffee! So the key issue here for me is not the definition of success but the journey from start to finish and especially the learnings in between.

If you start working on a goal without an end in mind, the chances are that you will miss out on the small learnings you discover along the journey (the in-betweens) because you are fixated on the end goal. Those small learnings help keep you on truck and even though its taking longer than usual, they help you understand that you are progressing and that the hiccups are just that – hiccups!

So the questions for me to you today are simply these – would you know success if it stared right straight at you? Have you defined what success looks like before you start working on that goal? Whats the end in mind and when would you know you are successful? Are you willing to do what it takes and if you fall along the way, are you willing to risk it all again?
